Lake Chelan Lakeshore Trail 4/30/23

Took the ferry from Fields Points to Stehekin. Ticktock was driving the ferry and after we arrived in Stehekin, he needed a few minutes to wrap things up. Once he was ready, we set off for our camp at Moore Point, seven miles down the trail. It was sunny, but not really hot. We saw no snakes. though we heard they were starting to wake up. The trail was in great shape and we made it to Moore Point at about 6PM. There were two other people already camped when we arrived. We set up camp and invited them both over for a visit while we had our dinner. Abby and Austin were nice folks and we had a nice chat before turning in. During the night we had thunder and lightning and it it rained a bit. My new tent performed well. The next day we were on the trail by 7:20, expecting to be at Prince Creek to meet the ferry by about noon. We underestimated our travel time, but still arrived well in advance of the ferry’s arrival at 1:20PM. The trail was in good shape and we had a couple of minorly challenging stream crossings. We took our shoes off and used water shoes for wading one of the streams. There was a sketchy broken log crossing the stream, but we decided to play it safe. The day was cloudy and cooler, with occasional rain, so we again saw no snakes. There was plenty of deer sign, and one big pile of bear poop, but no actual sightings. Wildflowers were blooming, and butterflies and birds were about. And of course, the views were fantastic. The hike is beautiful, and a bit challenging; plenty of ups and downs, but well worth the effort.
